"I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." Psalm 18:1-2

Another great day!
The youth team traveled to the slum area again today and met with students from one of the schools. The students are seeing things that they have never been exposed to before, and are quite taken back with their experiences. After additional home visits were made, the team traveled to their next destination. Tomorrow they will be going to another school where they will be speaking and singing for the first time. Please pray that they will allow God to speak through them, and that they rely on God and not on themselves. Pray that they will not be nervous, and that they will allow the Holy Spirit to work through them. Pray that God will continue to reveal Himself to the team members, as well the Kenyan people. Please pray for continued good health and rest.

Church, Home Visits
The team's day began with breakfast and then they attended Julius' church from 10 - 1. After lunch the team divided into 8 groups and they visited 8 different homes in the slum area. Our team members distributed bags of supplies such as maize, beans, and soap. One visit was made to a widow whose husband had died of AIDS. She has six children, and a skin disease that does not allow her to go into the sun. She also has AIDS. This family lives in a 10 x 10 room. Our students were very touched by the conditions of the living areas, and I am sure many eyes were opened to the blessings they often take for granted. Dozens of children followed our students through the area which had many open sewers and debris in the streets. Julius 's wife Esther and their 20 month old son joined the team for dinner and debriefing. On Monday they will be visiting an elementary school of about 200 students. Our team will be speaking, singing, and taking Beanie Babies to the children. They will also be making more home visits in the slum area, which is also where the school is located. The students have been amazed at the strength of the Christians there and that they find such hope in Christ. Please pray for safety as they travel again Monday and for clarity in their speaking. Moses from LIA will be traveling with them, so please pray that God will be with his family while he is away from them.

Busy Day!!
After breakfast on Saturday, our team met with the extended LIA team and then LIA gave specific information and directions about the activities and goals for the next ten days. After lunch, they went to the market where much bargaining was done in order to purchase spears, drums, necklaces, giraffes, rhinos, and various other items. Several LIA team members accompanied the group to assist with the bargaining. Our team purchased a drum at the market to use while they are there, and will leave it with one of the churches that does not have any instruments. Aaron R. will be playing the drum with Taylor and Tory also on instruments. Tory and Taylor will be singing a duet, and Sarah M. will also be singing. The team members practiced some songs with hand motions, which they will be sharing with the schools they will be visiting. On Sunday, they will be attending Julias's church, and all the guys decided to wear coats and ties!! After church, they will be making some home visits in the slum area, then returning to the compound for dinner, debriefing, and bed.
Please pray for wisdom for the LIA team, and for them to have patience with our team. Pray that they would not see arrogance, but humble servants; and pray that our team will have hearts to see God revealed.
"Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol Him, all you peoples. For great is His love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord!" Psalms 117:1-2

They've arrived!
The high school Kenya team arrived in Nairobi around 1:15 pm with ALL 36 PIECES OF LUGGAGE! Isn't God good? After arriving at the compound, they cleaned up, had a wonderful array of food, and were ready for bed! Everyone is in high spirits! Pray for the LIA team, that they will have the wisdom to place the students where their gifts are, for the team members to be willing to serve, and of course, for safety and protection. Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice!
